Abstract
An analysis of 147 line breaks from 15 Tyrells Premier 15s 2017/18 fixtures were analysed to measure both attacking defensive variables for association between their occurrence and the line breaks outcome. Of the themes analysed no significant association was found between the variables, however playing position of the attacker, attacking overlap, phase length and outcome were all individually significant in the line breaks analysed. Much of the researches findings reinforced that of previous literature such as location of where most line breaks occur as well as the willingness of players to attack from anywhere in the Ladies game. Drawbacks included not enough test of associations being statistically analysed as well as limited number of variables analysed for certain themes. Suggestions for further research include comparisons of line breaks between club and international level in Women’s Rugby as well the continued development of quality research into a sport that is ever growing in popularity.
